By targeting themselves they were able to build a name for themselves and then go forward from there.

It might be tempting to get your website for as cheap as possible but this will not work in the long run. To have a successful website you need to create the right image and you cannot do this if your website does not look professional. If you invest a bit more in the beginning you will find you are a far more successful later on.

3. Make sure you Navigation is Easy

It is absolutely vital that people can easily find their way around your website. If you have not put a lot of thought into your navigation then you will find you lose people quickly. Today’s internet user is very impatient and if they can’t find what they are looking for they will go somewhere else to find it.

4. Include a Call to Action

Every website should have a call to action. This shows the user what you want them to do and gives them a push to either contact you or buy what you are selling.

5. Optimise Your Content

This is a longer and more detailed process but should always be done. You will need to do your research and find out the best keywords to optimise your site for. Once you have selected your main keyword you should ensure it appears on every page of your website. In addition to that you need to utilise the Titles, headers and main content to ensure your keywords for a particular page are included. You should also try to include your keywords in your internal links.

6. Use a PPC Campaign

When you are trying to build up your business you need to think of ways to get instant traffic. The best way to do this is through the use of a PPC campaign. With the proper targeting and placements you will find you are bring people looking to buy to your site from day one.

7. Build links to your website

In order to get higher in the search engines you need to build the profile of your website and the best way to do this is through building links to your website. This needs to be something you focus on so that when you get high in the organic search results you can switch off your PPC and save yourself some money.

The above tips are just a taster of what you need to do to have an effective website but it is clear you need to think about it before you begin and put a lot of time an effort into having a successful internet business.

Link Building -- How To Do It Effectively

Building in bound links to your site is an valuable function of your total search engine promotion campaign. Present are lots of ways you can go about getting one way links to your site, but unluckily virtually the entire of them are to expensive to be price effective if you are on a firm promotion budget. One of the most useful methods of creative link building is achieved by building "content sites" on sites that propose limitless web hosting. There are various sites that offer complimentary hosting, such as WordPress, yahoo, Blogger and scores of others. This practice will allow you to build sites with applicable content that you will exercise to link to your core site. Building “content sites” is cost efficient and exceptionally easy to complete, and requires no out of pocket expenses.

There are some notable things to take into account in advance you set out building linking sites is that building actual incoming links is a time-consuming process and if your site should out of the blue have many new incoming links your site possibly will be flagged for a "human review". To avoid this it is vital that your linking be build slowly over time. To help you keep track of your linking sites you should build a spreadsheet and log the details of your linking sites: url’s, login information, keywords, anchor text, and date of linking and date of submission of each site. Having this information will make easier you keep pursue of all of your linking sites with linking and submission dates.

Your linking sites ought to all have a unique layout and unique content, and above all not use the same email address connected with any site submission or registration. To expand make your linking sites normal they should all be between 3 to 5 pages and have their links to your site from distinctive places in the linking site, and bear in mind that the anchor text and start of the incoming links should be actual and keyword based.

Once you are ready to originate, begin with 2 or 3 new sites and once you have the linking sites ready for submission add in your link to your most important site and make your site submission for one site, and then wait 3 to 5 days and make your next new site submission. SEO and Generating Traffic what you need to know

If you have a website whether brand new or existing you may be thinking about an SEO campaign. Before you get started there are a few things you need to think about. This article will give you some information about SEO and ways in which you can generate traffic to your website.

What is All the Hype?

You will probably hear a lot of buzz about SEO being free advertising and by doing it you will suddenly get a lot of traffic to your website that is looking to do business with you. This is partially true however all the buzz causes a lot of companies to spring up that are doing SEO and make various unfounded claims like:

1. They have special secrets that can help you get to the top of the search engines

2. They can guarantee you first page rankings for a very low cost

3. They will get you loads of high PageRank sites to link to you

4. They have a special relationship with Google or other search engine

If you are going to embark on an SEO campaign you need to be aware these kind of claims and make your own mind up about whether they are realistic or not.

SEO is not Free

Although when you are on the first page of the search engines you may be generating traffic it is not really free. To get your site there you either have to pay someone to do it or you need to put in a lot of work. Anyone serious about SEO should be spending some time everyday working on their campaign. If you work out how much your time costs you will be aware of the cost of your campaign.

SEO is not Easy

Many people look at SEO and see it as reasonably simple. However that is not the case and can be quite a complex analysis to work out what you need to do. You also need to remember that everyone around you is also trying to do the same thing which makes it even harder.

The Search Engines Might Not Want what you Want

The aim of every search engines is to give searchers the most relevant results for their search. So even though you might want to get on the first page you might not be what they are looking for. If the search engines are going to continue to do their jobs properly then you might have to change tact and go for different keywords to obtain top rankings.

Balance your Campaign

SEO is not the only way to generate traffic to your website and should not be 100% relied on. This is partly because there are no guarantees with the search engines and so you need to have your figure in other pies. For this reason you should work on various other ways of generating traffic to your website in order to gain publicity.

The biggest problem with the internet is that many people think that they can set up a website and then the people will come. Unfortunately this is not the case and you will need to invest a lot of time and money in bringing people to your site. You also need to remember that once they are there your site should be set up to convert as many people into sales as possible.

12 Steps to Effective Websites - By Nancy Fraser

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea

In a beautiful pea green boat,

They took some honey, and plenty of money,

Wrapped up in a five pound note.

Edward Lear must have had some precognition about what was in store for us all with the development of the internet when he wrote this nonsensical poem.

Many people do feel at sea after they launch their website and attempt to navigate the sometimes confusing channels of the internet. They wonder why their website doesn't get more traffic and why their inbox is not filling up with emails from people clamoring to buy their products or services.

It seems that the rules change as often as Oprah changes her clothes and who could ever hope to keep up with that!

Price quotes for search engine optimization are all over the map;the process seems never-ending and expensive.

How is it that some people seem to have great success on the web without spending a huge amount of money? Is it unrealistic to think that you can make a living working on the web?

When faced with a seemingly overwhelming challenge it helps to break things down into bite-sized pieces.

Effective websites should include the following:

1. Your website needs to focus on a specific niche.

2. You need to do keyword research and although Google no longer gives weight to Meta keywords some of the other major search engines still do.

3. Your website should have the main keyword used throughout and each page should be written around 5-10 keywords that are tightly focused on that particular page's topic.

4. Content is still King. Well written, focused content is crucial.

5. Meta titles need to include your keywords.

6. Organization of content should include headings and subtitles to make it easy for readers to scan the pages. Be sure to include your keywords in these headings as well.

7. Most people on the web are looking for information. If you don't give them anything of value or entertain them, they will be gone, probably for good.

8. Use keywords in links where ever possible.

9. Include a call to action and, if possible, provide a Free traffic. You have to build trust before you can make a sale.

10. Check your website in various browsers (FireFox, Internet Explorer, etc.) to make sure it displays equally well in all.

11. Your personality is what attracts people to you so why would you create a generic website with all of the excitement of a flat glass of pop. Keep the content fresh so it has Fizz!

12. Most importantly, have realistic expectations of what you want to achieve with your website. With all the hype about overnight successes on the internet it's difficult to put your results into perspective. If you expect instant success and it isn't happening, it's easy to become demoralized and quit before you reach your goal.

Top 5 Reasons Most Internet Businesses Fail

If you've been online for any amount of time, then I'm sureyou've heard many of the success stories about internetentrepreneurs, and how they're making millions every year, and you've probably heard how easy it is for you to do it, too.

And the truth is, it actually is kind of easy, but not as easyas most salesmen would have you believe. There is a little bitof work involved, and anyone who's really been successful has put in the time and effort to get there. And they've managed toavoid the pitfalls on this list.

If you're trying to start your online business and thingshaven't gone as well as you've hoped so far, then hopefully, these suggestions will help.

Here are the five most common reasons that most internetbusinesses fail that I've seen, in no particular order:

1. Information Overload
You've probably already been inundated with emails explaining how some new money making scheme is the hottest thing on the planet and you need to get in now so that you're on the cutting edge of internet marketing. The problem is that you haven't finished working on the previous hot new thing yet, and as soon as you start this one,yet another hot idea will hit, and so on, and so on.

In every valid email you get, there should be an"unsubscribe" link at the bottom. Start clicking on it, and just stick with a few of the people who you know are giving you good information about building your business from start to finish in the right order without any distractions. And make sure that you see every task through to completion before moving onto the next one. It's the only real way to getanything done.

2. The Curse of Perfection
Speaking of seeing tasks through to completion, also consider that not everything on your website and in your sales process has to be absolutely perfect before you can unleash it on the public. So many home business owners who are just starting out have a habit of obsessing over every little detail forever beforethey'll allow themselves to launch their site.Stop it. It doesn't have to be perfect.

That doesn't mean thatyou don't need to make sure your website is working properly first. It means that you can work on adjusting small details, such as the color scheme, the sales copy, the images, later on.In fact, if you're planning to do any proper testing (and youshould be), then you should be constantly working on those items anyway.

So get your website out there, get some traffic, make sure thebig things are working right, and then worry about adjusting thesmall details.

3. Waiting for the "Magic Bullet"
Let me just start by saying that there is no magic bullet whenit comes to running your business, or doing any kind of work online.I know that a lot of salesmen make it sound that way when you're reading their sales letters, but it simply isn't true. They're lying to you. And even if they're not lying to you, and let's say their system does work, it's only going to work for a short period of time, and it's only going to make you a little bit of money. Not the millions they're promising.

That's why I constantly warn people away from the"business-in-a-box" opportunities. The result isn't ever very good. Maybe you'll make a small bit of side money, if you're lucky. Besides, why would you want to sell the same thing everyone else is selling anyway? The only way to have lasting success online is to have a website that is unlike anyone else's, that you've built up into a success, with a loyal customer base, one step at a time.

4. Being a Shopaholic
This goes along with #3 above. Stop paying for every new scheme that comes along because they're promising you instant riches. All that's going to do is drain you of your money. And then, if you're like so many others, there's a good chance you'll get frustrated and give up on the whole thing, because you don't know who you can trust anymore, and you don't want to take a chance.

So your dream of working from home is over before it began.Or, maybe they're not selling you a scam, but in fact have valid programs that many people use successfully in theirbusinesses. That's great, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's right for you right now. It might be something that will be a good investment for your business later on, but you should really concentrate on getting your website up and running first.Otherwise you end up with information overload as described in#1 above.

5. Fear of Technology
Just because you haven't tried something before doesn't mean that you can't learn to do it. Think about pretty much everything you've ever done, especially the things you're goodat. Did you always know how to do that, or did you learn it overtime?I'm guessing that you learned it, and you can learn to do a lotof the work on your website, too.

I constantly have to tell thepeople I meet that it's in their best interest to learn at least a little bit of the technical stuff that comes with having awebsite.I'm not saying you have to be a programming expert. In fact, ifyou need heavy duty programming done, then you should definitely get someone to do it for you. It'll save you a lot of time, forone. But there's no reason why you can't learn some of thebasics of HTML so that whenever you need to make a small changeto your website (such as the testing we talked about earlier)you won't have to pay someone to do it for you.

And you won'thave to wait for them to have the time. It's not as hard as you think. It just takes a little time tolearn it.

Conclusion
The most important point I'm trying to convey is that, in orderto be successful online, you need to remain focused on one taskat a time. Finish that task and move onto the next one. And keep going until you're done.

Stop investing in every fancy new program that comes along. There are no "magic bullets" anyway. Stick to the plan from the beginning, and see it through to the end.

Starting a new website does require a bit of work at the beginning. There's no way around that if you want to succeed. But the great thing about working online is that once you have everything set up, you can put almost all of it on autopilot and bring in money 24 hours a day with a minimum of work.

So get started now, don't be afraid that you can't do it, don't get frustrated, and don't let anything distract you. You couldbe making very good money in very little time if you do it right.

The Importance of Finding Good Keywords for Your Website

In my last post, I talk about how to look for good keywords. Today, I am still going to talk about good keywords, but to explain why it is important to find good keywords for your website.

Keywords are always everywhere in our world. For e.g when we are talking to one another, we are actually thinking of a keyword. We may talk about food, movies, clothings etc. All items related to these are keywords that characterize to it.

So now you may be asking “Bruce, what are keywords?”

Well, my dear friend, just as what I had explained aove, keywords refer or characterize an item or object. They link to other words or information.

Keywods in the world of internet is always either a word or a phrase. You key in the word or phrase in the search engine and it will return related result to what you search for.

So why is it so important to my website?

This is a very good questions. You can always create a website, without or ignoring the knowledge of having good keywords on your website. But if you do it this way, then I can guarantee you that you will have either very few or no visitors at all to your website, cause you have ignore the most basic thing, that is “KEYWORDS” .

2 Main Reasons of having Good Keywords for your website

1. Good Keywords can drive traffic. Good keywords can be easily search on search engines, therefore driving traffic to your website. You will be only wasting your time, if you select keywords that no body look for

2. Good Keywords allow your website rank higher. Googles rank website based on page rank. The highest pagerank your site with, the chance of getting to the first few pages of Googles is higher. Hence, having good keywords for your website will help in this.

So now you should understand why so many people emphasize on keywords when they try to make money online.

There are some tools or software on the internet that can help you to select good keywords for your website, which I will not be mentioning here as you can easily search for it by just typing “keywords” on the search engine.

Hope you have learnt more now and see you again soon!

How To Select A Good Keywords

As you may have already known, in order to make money online, you must know how to to select keyword for your website. Not just only keyword, but it must be a good keyword.

What do I meant by “good keyword”?

For example you may want to start a topic about Soccer Thus, “Soccer” is a keyword, and your site traffic is based on this keyword. However, if you are going to start a website just based on the keyword “Soccer”, then you will have a hard time of getting any traffic as the competition is too tough here.Instead of just focusing on one keyword, you may want to consider come out a phrase that make up of two to 3 keywords, and in the SEO terms, known as long tail keywords, which will have less competition and this long tail keywords is a good keyword for your site.

To make it more easier to understand, let’s look at the word “Soccer” again. If you type this word “Soccer” inside a search engine, e.g Google, you will get an approximate 194,000,000 results being returned. Now, out of these 194,000,000 results, where does your website or pages stand? Your competition with other website is huge and you will have a hard time in getting to the top. (To me, it is very good to a newbie if your website does appeared in the first 3 pages of any search engine).

So rather than just focus on “Soccer” you may want to expand even further say

Soccer ->Soccer Training

Both “Soccer” & “Training” is a keyword of its own. That means, when someone type the word “Soccer” or “Training” in any of the search engine, your website may appear somewhere on the search engine, but definetly not in the top. However, if someone type “Soccer Training”, you will have less competition, as only 1,050,000 results are being returned compared to 194,000,000 previously,so your website may have chance of appear in the first few pages on the search engine.

Now, if you go further down, you may have

Soccer -> Soccer Training -> Soccer Training Aid

Only 341,000 results being returned!!

So keep on expand down using this method, and you will be able to find a very Good Keyword phrase which you can try to dominate and generate more traffic to your website.
